| Abstract (German): | In einigen englischsprachigen Ländern ist in den letzten Jahren eine von der Marktideologie geprägte Neuorientierung in der Bildungspolitik zu beobachten. Für die wissenschaftliche Begründung hat das kürzlich erschienene Buch von John E. Chubb und Terry M. Moe "Politics, Markets, and America's Schools" besondere Bedeutung erlangt. Die Autoren erheben darin den Anspruch, den empirischen Nachweis für die Überlegenheit eines marktgesteuerten Schulwesens liefern zu können. Der vorliegende Beitrag setzt sich kritisch mit dieser Arbeit auseinander. Durch Konfrontation ihrer Ergebnisse mit empirischen Befunden anderer Untersuchungen wird die Tragfähigkeit der "Marktlösung" im Schulbereich in Frage gestellt. (DIPF/Text übernommen) |
| Abstract (English): | Some English-speaking countries witnessed a reorientation in educational policy in recent years influenced by the market ideology. The newly published book by John E. Chubb and Terry M. Moe "Politics, Markets, and America's Schools" has gained special importance for the scholarly support of this development. The authors claim to have found empirical evidence for the superiority of a market-regulated school system. In this contribution their study is subjected to critical scrutiny. The confrontation of their conclusions with empirical results from other studies challenges the assumptions of the "market Solution" in education. (DIPF/Orig.) |
