(DIPF/Orig.)
Abstract (English):The author argues that neither children's use of "transitional objects" (D.W. Winnicott) nor their "symbolic playing" (J. Piaget) represent preliminary stages in human development that need to be overcome. Rather, dealing with symbols, something that begins in early childhood, is of lifelong significance. This proposition is related to two structural elements of the classical concept of education, which is enriched by a fusion of a pedagogical theory of symbols and educational theory. On the other hand, the critical concept of education in its regulative function is applied in order to counterbalance certain postmodern trends that are sometimes connected with the theory of symbols.
