Abstract (German):Dieser Beitrag thematisiert Hintergründe, Konzepte und Umsetzungsmöglichkeiten einer Wissenschafts- und Forschungsorientierung im Medizinstudium.
Abstract (English):This contribution shall give an overview of scientific and scholarly approaches which are currently incorporated in undergraduate medicine curricula. We discuss backgrounds and conceptualisations as well as formats of teaching and learning. In this particular respect, curricula should be directed at two different objectives. Firstly, individual medical reasoning and treatment have to be linked to a broad scientific foundation; and secondly, highly skilled and trained research clinicians need to be motivated to stay in the field, in order to ensure a constant expansion of medical knowledge. Based on a comprehensive model of the different roles of physicians, curriculum planers currently put a new focus on scientific foundations and scholarship. Teaching and learning formats range from single seminars on «Evidence-Based Medicine» to whole scientific modules. Moreover, all Swiss medical universities have included a master thesis in their curricula, thus providing an opportunity for specific and personal participation in research projects.
